A rare find! This is an exquisite antique from the 1800's. This small antique Georgian waist pocket Scottish snuff mull box is handmade with exceptional workmanship. This snuff box has been carved and fashioned from natural horn. The body is made from a natural ram's horn with beautiful coloration in the horn and nice curled end. A bit of what appears to be the original cork is still visible under the brass and horn lid. Reminiscent of something right off of the pages of Outlander.
The practice of inhaling powdered tobacco became common in Europe in the 17th century and continued through the 18th century.
This rare piece is in excellent condition corresponding to it's age and has a hinged lid. This piece has a beautiful natural patina from time and is a prize for the collector.
