A beautifully preserved pair of Monarch butterflies from North America and the world. Known as Danaus Plexippus these are one of my personal favorites (I used to catch them as a young child). The Monarch butterfly has a lengthy migration. Each fall, North American monarchs travel from their summer breeding grounds to overwintering locations. East of the Rocky Mountains, monarchs travel up to an astonishing 3,000 miles to central Mexico, whereas the shorter western migration is to the California coast.
This specimen is framed in a black wooden frame shadowbox with a picture hanger added to the back and using glass that is 99% UV blocking museum grade conservation glass to prevent fading. The Insect name & origin is printed on old world style parchment paper using archival and acid free materials.
